Old notice in the porch of Image] records the rebuilding work carried out in 1827: "The accommodation in this CHURCH was enlarged by the Erection of a Gallery in the year 1827, by which means 55 additional sittings were obtained, and in consequence of a grant from the SOCIETY for promoting the Enlargements & Building of Churches and Chapels, the whole of that number are hereby declared to be FREE and unappropriated for ever. Also in the same Year, a new Tower and the north Transept were added and the south wall and south Transept were rebuilt."
