Set back from the road, No.87a Flemingate, built 1852 in grey brick as the Minster National School for Infants, replacing an unidentified building in St Nicholas's parish. The school was united with the National Society and supported by subscriptions, donations, and income from two charities. An annual government grant was received from 1865. The building was enlarged in 1871 to designs by William Hawe of Beverley. The school closed in 1914, being replaced by St Nicholas's Council school the following year. The building was used as a factory in 1987. Now occupied by Eyeline Ltd., optical goods manufacturers.
