Unwaith yn ffarm o'r enw Cwm Creigiau Fawr mae'r lle bellach, er 1974, yn ganolfan fynachaidd lle ddilyna'r mynachwyr gôd Ffransisgaidd llym o dlodi, diweirdeb ac ufudd-dod. Once a farm called Cwm Creigiau Fawr (trans. valley of rocks) the place, since 1973, has been a monastic community. The monks follow the strict Franciscan code of poverty, chastity and obedience.
