On the west side of Snuff Mill Lane, cottages built by the North Eastern Railway Company, 1930s. Each dwelling bears a plaque on the façade inscribed 'N.E.R. Cottage Homes', together with the date of construction and, in some cases, a name attributed to the dwelling, e.g. Carver Cottages.
