Ahead for the A40 and St Clears or turn right for Tavernspite. Wikipedia states that Tavernspite is a corruption of Tafarn Ysbyty, Welsh for Hospice Tavern, referring to the only building at the site in the 18th century. It was believed to have been a hospice for pilgrims to St Davids built by Whitland Abbey monks. The present-day Welsh name for Tavernspite is not Tafarn Ysbyty but Tafarnspite, a partly-translated version of the English name.
