Class 59, 59201, takes the line to Lewisham at Nunhead Junction with the 6Y60 Ardingly to Hither Green Down Yard. This train of empty wagons is ultimately bound for Hanson's Whatley Quarry in the Mendip Hills - 59201 will run round her train at Hither Green before returning through Nunhead again, with the train redesignated 6V18. You can see 59201 later in the same day with the 6V18 at Wandsworth Road - Image This photograph is taken from the footbridge connecting the truncated sections of Aspinall Road. The original road bridge collapsed on 29th November 1960 and was subsequently demolished.
