Barrow Hill Quarry and Lime Works was never a big operation, unlike nearby Cloud Hill. Unlike Cloud Hill, it never had good transport links, being only briefly connected to the canal network via the unsuccessful Charnwood Forest Canal. Quarrying ceased some time in the mid-19th century and the remains have been reclaimed by nature.
