Bournemouth's first hotel in Bath Road was built and designed for Sir George Gervis by the architect Benjamin Ferrey in 1838 when it was known simply as the Bath Hotel. It was enlarged in 1880 by Sir Merton Russel-Cotes to become the Royal Bath Hotel that survives to this day. Once Bournemouth's premier hotel, it has long since been overtaken by its more modern rivals. Image Image
