The A273 linking Burgess Hill to Haywards Heath. The road is old being marked on a 1638 estate map and was turnpiked in 1807 as an alternative route to Cuckfield on what was then the main London-Brighton coaching route. This view looks back towards the junction at Fairplace Bridge on the only section with the national speed limit, its twists and turns give the rest of the road a 50mph speed limit.
