The sign is surmounted by a Viking helmet. The date AD 890 is also displayed and is the time the village was settled by Danes, while Alfred the Great was still King. The main subject is the lovely little church of St George on which the sun shines, and in the panel below is mother duck and three ducklings. Some ears of wheat and wild flowers complete the scene. In the spandrels are two shields of former Gentry of the Manor. Sir George Reve who was resident in the mid 17th century and John Sheppard, in the late 18th century.
