I am not the first geograph contributor to be intrigued by the apparent pointlessness of having two single rows of trees and a hollow interior in a shelter belt. I could have understood them planting a wide belt in such an exposed place, but surely these are more likely to be blown down than if the whole area has been planted? And why devote so much space to unproductive land?
