Huge metal containers for recycling bottles were once located at various points around Bourne such as here at the Rainbow Supermarket in Manning Road where home owners could deposit their bottles according to colour but the system was not a success. Other rubbish was also dumped there and the bottle banks were phased out with the arrival of kerbside wheelie bins in 2006.
