This photograph was taken from a public Image that crosses fields to the north of, and overlooking, the eastern side of Thornton. The eastern end of the footpath connects with Image The western end joins another public footpath connecting Church Lane with walking routes to Ellerburn. The view over the field is of the rear of houses at the eastern end of Church Lane. Beyond that there is the vale of Pickering and the Yorkshire Wolds.
