Nearly all the passenger services through Croydon run on 3rd rail electric. The exception is the diesel service from Uckfield which is unelectrified beyond Hurst Green. This train, leaving platform 5 for London Bridge and crossing to the up lines, was a full nine cars, much longer than the one that called a little later Image
