The second Metrolink depot was built in 2011 on Ayres Road, adjacent to the Old Trafford tram station, to cope with the network’s expansion. Initially, it was the depot for Metrolink's South Manchester operations, but in 2013 the control room, known as the Network Management Centre, was moved from the Queen’s Road depot and is now located at the Trafford facility with the Customer Services team.
