Turnpike Cottages Winslade Road

These are possibly the oldest houses in the road. Prior to 1903 being called Turnpike Lane. Winslade derives its name from the fields that the road was built upon. Note the contrasting styles. The more decorative being on the corner having a commanding view of the main road. The location of the toll/turnpike was possibly on the corner.
