Offices of the James Pantyfedwen Foundation, at the corner of Market Street and Eastgate. The aims of the foundation are "the advancement, encouragement and promotion of religion, education, the Arts and agriculture and other charitable purposes for the benefit of Welsh persons primarily in Wales”. The foundation was set up as successor to two charitable trusts set up by Sir David James James, whose business interests included milk, grain, brewing and animal foodstuffs but who was most famously a cinema magnate, responsible for London's first "super-cinema", the Palladium in Palmers Green, in 1920. Fittingly these offices, opened in 1968 just after his death, were built on the site of Aberystwyth's first cinema, Cheetham's Picture Palace, later the Palladium, which was destroyed by fire in 1935. The bust on the wall is of Sir David James.
