The dedication on the southern aspect of Image] reads: TO THE MEMORY AND HONOUR OF ALL MEN AND WOMEN OF THE BRITISH ARMED FORCES WHO LAID DOWN THEIR LIVES IN DEFENCE OF THIS COUNTRY I think that this is probably a later inscription added to the memorial to commemorate those who died in conflicts post-1919.
