Metrolink Bombardier M5000 tram number 3023 stands at the Queens Road depot ready to operate on the Abraham Moss to Bury service. Metrolink’s Queens Road Depot occupies a 10-acre site on the western side of the Bury line. It was constructed during Metrolink’s initial phase which opened in 1992 and it served jointly as a control centre, HQ, office space, and depot for the storage, maintenance and repair of vehicles. This is an overall view taken from the Queens Road bridge, looking towards the city. The Queens Road tram stop on the line to and from Bury are to the left. In 2013 Metrolink transferred its main operational functions from Cheetham Hill to the newer depot at Old Trafford which was built in 2011 to cope with the network’s expansion.
