Lock 53, Stratford Canal

As the canal drops towards the River Avon it passes through Maidenhead Road Lock and under bridge 67. The bottom gate is of an unusual design due to the restricted space; instead of a beam there is a steel handle set at right angles to the gate making this a difficult lock to work.
