Priorities

28 Mar 2024

Due to a spike of shop thefts within the Ashby Lakeside and Ashby Central area this has become our first priority for the area. At present we are collating any offences and prioritizing our patrols with information linked to these offences to look at dealing with the offenders with the most proportionate outcome to reduce the risk of reoffending and loss for the victims.

Response (11 Apr 2024)

The local policing team have been conducting high visibility and plain clothes within the Ashby lakeside and Ashby central area. Following these patrols the team have successfully located and arrested 2 persons. Stop and search powers have also been used in order to prevent, detect and deter any offences. These patrols will remain in place and further localized high visibility and engagement with the shop owners and staff remain in place in order to best maintain and deal with the levels of shop lifting committed for the ward area.

28 Mar 2024

Anti-social behaviour within the Ashby Lakeside retail area whereby a number of youths have been causing concern for members of the public and shop staff. This created an increase for calls for service within the locality.

Response (11 Apr 2024)

The group which have been causing issues at a number of shops alongside the Lakeside Ashby area have been identified and following this the main two perpetrators have been referred to the youth justice partnership and at present are working alongside the service, this is to educate and look to deter further reoffending and negative behaviours within the community. The group was all also issued with banning orders from the targetted shops this was completed in conjunction with staff at the shops.

Plans forward - To monitor the area via plain clothes and high visibility patrols and identify any offenders in order to reduce the risk and harm to the community. Any offences dealt with robustly and in partnership with the local shops. Issue banning letters and youth justice partnership intervention where required.
