This is a pre-1964 style direction sign, probably issued by the council as aiming for properties rather than places. The odd thing is the houses on the road appear to be new. Possibly the estate at the end which is very recently built replaced Chalmers Court, as the rust on the sign indicates the age is genuine and does not correspond with the age of the properties.
