Opened in 1841 by the Great North of England Railway, soon to become part of the North Eastern Railway, on the line from York to Darlington. The station would have been rebuilt in 1933 when the line was quadrupled, but closed to passengers in 1958 and completely in 1964. View south east towards Alne and York.
