Calve bridge carries road traffic across the River Derwent at the eastern edge of Workington. The bridge carries an identical inscription on stones on both sides of the structure. It reads: WORKINGTON BRIDGE BUILT A.D. 1841 THOMAS MILTON CIVIL ENGINEER THOMAS NELSON BUILDER The bridge is grade II listed and it's page on the English Heritage website is here: http://list.english-heritage.org.uk/resultsingle.aspx?uid=1327212
