Preserved ex-LNER A4 Class Pacific locomotive number 4464 'Bittern' makes her way northbound on the slow line at Oakleigh Park station on a very frosty morning. The newly risen sun glints off the boiler whilst the steam billows in the cold morning air. The platforms still bear their coating of overnight frost except for the edges where a salt substitute has been scattered to make the surface safe for passengers. This special was entitled The Bittern Farewell Tour and marked the end of over eight years of mainline running for this locomotive as she is due to be withdrawn for overhaul.
