Twickenham has been something of a resort at least since the early 17th century (I take John Donne's 'Twicknam Garden' to be evidence of that http://www.luminarium.org/sevenlit/donne/twickenham.php ) so exotic species will have been part of the scene for a very long while. I am unclear about the identity of those tall conifers - reddish at this time of year - but they are familiar from other sites not far away: http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/3232107 http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/3758222 http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/3756907
