Red Lion Inn and water tower

The water tower is the dominating feature of modern day Askern but the Red Lion Inn reflects an earlier stage in the town's development. The Red Lion (or rather its predecessor) was one of many inns catering for those visiting the spa which until the First World War was the focus of Askern's economic activity.
