Seen from Morrisons' car park, on the other side of the railway. The gas-holder is no longer in use, and a body of local opinion would like to see it demolished without delay. And yet it is said that the UK's gas-storage capacity is worryingly low, sufficient to hold no more than a few days' supply: http://peprenewables.com/uk-gas-reserves-down-to-six-hours/ Much of the UK's capacity was lost as a result of Thatcherisation, with gas-storage sites ending up in the hands of asset-strippers. I'm yet to be convinced that the Oxted site is truly redundant.
