In common with many other stations, in late 2014 Thornton Heath acquired notices at the end of its platforms giving the number of the Samaritans, presumably as an attempt to intercept would-be suicides. Passing on the left, a non-stopping train on the down fast line indicates the dangers for anyone who might stray beyond the platform end.
