Seen on a misty and murky November afternoon, Compton Terrace was completed in 1831. Compton Terrace Garden in front of the terrace was originally for the private use of residents of Compton Terrace. In the 20th century, maintenance was transferred to Islington Borough Council and the gardens opened as a public amenity. For a more detailed history of Compton Terrace Garden see http://www.londongardensonline.org.uk/gardens-online-record.asp?ID=ISL023 and for a photograph see http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/4260396 Beyond the northern part of the terrace can be seen the impressive Union Chapel with the present building dating from the 1870s.
