Grove Road housing recently built on the north side of crossroads north of Coleford. This site was formerly the location of a turnpike lodge or perhaps cottage, where payment was received for the use of a turnpike road. Tolls on turnpike roads were abolished in the UK in 1872, after which the roads were maintained by local authorities. This site was later occupied by Pike House tavern and restaurant. That building was demolished to make way for the Pike House seen here in late November 2014.
