First licensed in 1836, it became the Ostrich Commercial inn in the 1870s. In September 1974, the inn was acquired by James and Diane Ponder and it would seem to have remained in the family until its closure in 2001. The building has stood empty ever since but the last licensee's name, Alfred Ponder, can still be seen above the door. For a wider view see > http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/4256757.
