Woodview terraces at Bourne, Lincolnshire

The neat lines of Victorian terraced houses known as Woodview were built circa 1898 for working class families to rent, the first mass housing development in Bourne and a forerunner of the council houses we know today. There are two rows of yellow brick houses known as Eastern and Western Villas with the original cast iron name plates still fixed to the end of each terrace. There are 69 houses in all, a mix of two, three and four bedroom properties, which were bought during the early 20th century by the old Bourne Urban District Council, transferring to South Kesteven District Council during the re-organisation of local government in 1974 and this authority continues to administer the properties although many have since been sold to sitting tenants and are now in private ownership.
