Looking east from the overbridge that gives access to Gordon Castle. Notice the signs indicating that the eastbound overtaking lane is about to give way to a westbound one. This means that both overtaking lanes are short, and often not long enough for queues to dissipate. There is a similar arrangement on the Mosstodloch bypass just a mile or so west of here. I wonder why they could not have made the whole of the Fochabers bypass an overtaking lane in one direction, and whole of the Mosstodloch bypass an overtaking lane in the other direction? Though of course the whole thing should have been a dual carriageway from the very outset.
