This small settlement which straggles along the Fishguard-St Davids road seems to have grown up during the course of the C19 with the establishment of a Baptist chapel/school around 1816, and the attraction of main road custom: by the middle of the century there were a pub, a carpenter's shop and a draper operating here. In the following decades a smithy, the post office and another shop were recorded. The pub survives, as does a (new) school and this small multipurpose shop. The smithy became The Forge garage.
