In the grounds of Image and shaded by a centuries-old yew tree, the grotto was erected in 1932 by the brothers Tarplee, from designs by the local artist Elphege Pippet who worked in Hardman's Birmingham studios. The Hollington stone statues were carved by Messrs Bridgeman & Son of Lichfield.
