A good number of plane spotters were out to see aircraft at the airport that had displayed at the Scottish Airshow at Ayr Low Green the day before. The Battle of Britain Memorial Flight consisting of two Spitfires and Two Lancasters scheduled to appear at the airshow was cancelled due to bad weather at RAF Coningsby, but they were able to fly on the Sunday to the Portrush Airshow in Northern Ireland, and they performed a fly past and landed at Prestwick for a short period. The BBMF was a wonderful sight and well worth waiting for.
