George Street was laid out circa 1820 but remained undeveloped on its south side until 1888 when the terrace of 28 red and yellow brick cottages was built, Nos.6 to 60. An arch between Nos.30 & 32 allows access to the rear of the dwellings. The overall uniformity has been broached by several painted facades and, in one case, the application of stone cladding.
