Ballee Non-Subscribing Presbyterian Church

This is one of three Non-Subscribing Presbyterian churches in the Lecale Peninsula, the other two are at Downpatrick and Clough. The three share one minister. Non-Subscribing Presbyterianism is more akin to Unitarianism with little of the Calvinist and Knoxian overtones usually associated with Ulster and Scottish Presbyterianism. In fact, members of the Ballee congregation, including some of the area's biggest farmers, listed their religion in the 1911 Census as being Unitarian. http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1911/Down/Dunsford/Tullynaskeagh/242044/
