General ASB and violence, retail theft and street drinking.

Dedicated officers have visited a number of locations to hold mini surgeries to discuss local concerns. Issues highlight that service providers and locations frequented by service users are a real concern. A problem solving approach with our partners has been agreed to combat the consumption of high strength alcohol and proxy purchasing. Weekly visits to hostels and combined visits to agreed locations during the evening to signpost individuals to appropriate support services/hostels. Various ASB legislation and orders such as CBOs and CPNs are being applied for and issued to prolific offenders.

Community feedback relates to issues caused centrally by gathering youths, drug users and street drinkers. Retailers also raise concerns about theft from their stores and prolific offenders. There are concerns in relation to violence and the use of illegal bikes throughout the town centre.

Feedback from the community highlights the following concerns: Groups of young people involved in intimidation, nuisance behaviour, and sporadic violence. Increases in retail theft affecting local businesses, including repeat offenders and organised shoplifting groups.
Alcohol‑related disorder, littering, and disruptive behaviour linked to public drinking in open spaces and transport areas. Anti‑social cycling, particularly pavement riding and dangerous manoeuvres.

Neighbourhood police officers will be conducting high‑visibility patrols at peak times and hotspot locations.
Joint work with schools, youth services, and early intervention partners. Targeted enforcement against persistent offenders and holding local surgeries to support diversion and prevention.
We will be applying for a Public Space Protection Order (PSPOs) soon and will be holding surgeries for public consultation.
Partnership work with outreach, addiction services, and the local authority will be conducted and also licensing engagement with venues contributing to repeat incidents.
