geograph.org.uk is full of photographs of tyres dumped illegally in all sorts of beautiful places. Here however is an example of old tyres awaiting legal and responsible disposal. Tyres are a problem, with several ideas being considered for safe disposal of the large numbers discarded daily. Some are burnt for electricity production and other are distilled to gain valuable chemicals. Many just end up in landfills where they are a fire hazard.
