Properly known as The Metropolitan Cathedral Church of St David, or perhaps also as St David's Cathedral Cardiff, this massive presence among the department stores of central Cardiff is the prime Roman Catholic church for Wales. It was designed by architects Pugin and Pugin in 1884–87 at a cost of over £2,100. The church was hit by incendiaries during an air raid in 1941, causing a lot of damage. The building was largely rebuilt in the 1950s. See Image] for a detail.
