This building on St. Pega's Road was originally a public house known as The Railway Inn (being located close to the village's former railway station). The pub was opened in 1848 to cater for workers constructing the Lincolnshire Loop Line. The indentation in the wall where the pub sign was mounted is still visible. The Railway Inn closed in 1957 and the building subsequently served as the village post office until its closure in 1987 after which it was converted into a private residence.
