Unfortunately yet another landlord was unable to make a success of this canalside pub, and the owners, Marston's, have decided to call time. The pub is to be re-opened by a growing and well-known regional brewery but in the meantime it has been shuttered. It appears the inside will be completely revamped, which it certainly needs. The damp musty smell and ancient furniture of the small bar looking onto Mitton Street was enough to put anyone off. When it re-opens there is certain to be a strong emphasis on the brewery's real ales. This will be welcome to many but probably not to the nearby pubs. Image
