There are two sandstone piers at the gateway to the church, each topped by a metal life-size greyhound. They were the badge of the Sleddall family (note the letter 'S' supporting the hound). They are Grade II listed http://www.britishlistedbuildings.co.uk/en-76700-gatepiers-to-north-entrance-of-st-stephen
