The Metropolitan District Railway opened the line from Hounslow High Street to the junction with the MDR near Ealing on 1st May 1883. Boston Manor station opened on the same day. The station was originally named Boston Road. The signs on the platforms gave the name as Boston Manor for Hanwell. Between 1932 and 1934 the station was rebuilt to replace the 1883 station building. Up until then only District Line trains ran over the line but in 1933 Piccadilly Line trains started to run over the branch as far as Northfields when the depot at Northfields opened. The full service of Piccadilly Line trains running from Hounslow West through Boston Manor started on 13th March 1933. District Line trains through Boston Manor ceased in October 1964 and the service is now entirely provided by the Piccadilly Line. This view from the Heathrow -bound platform looks across to where a Piccadilly line train on the London bound platform is just leaving. The station is Grade II Listed. To the right of the station buildings here, but out of sight, are running tracks into Northfields Depot.
