It seems that this may have been built as the Post office from the beginning. Both it and the van are in need of some fresh paint. Note the date 1869 picked out in grey brick on the gable. The face of the building is in header bond http://www.geograph.org.uk/article/Brick-bonds#header-bond which is a relatively uncommon form.
