Bench mark on St Michaels Church

This Ordnance Survey bench mark on the south-west face of the tower of St Michaels Church evidently replaced the original bolt of the First Primary Levelling of England and Wales of 1844 (207.953 ft. above Ordnance Datum Liverpool) very early on, as it is shown on the 1885 and 1903 maps with an ODL of 208.3ft. It was last verified in 1961 with a height of 63.3588m above Ordnance Datum Newlyn.
