Stracey Arms Drainage Mill

The 1797 map shows that a mill stood on the Stracey Arms site even then in the parish of Tunstall, one of a series of eleven drainage mills on the banks of the River Bure between Acle and Yarmouth. The present Stracey Arms Mill is said to have been built on a raft of pitch-pine set on forty-foot piles driven into the marsh. The windmill was restored to its original condition in 1961 under a county council scheme with generous financial assistance from other donors.
