Opened in 1886 by the Taff Vale Railway on the line from Cardiff to Treherbert, this station replaced a previous one called Pandy. View south east towards Pandy and Cardiff. The platforms at Pandy started from just beyond the end of the current platform. As built, Dinas Rhonda had a further two tracks and a platform to the right of the line shown. Pandy only had two tracks and it is likely the enforced shift 200m west to the current location was because there was no room to widen the track at Pandy station. All a little ironic, as when this image was taken, there was only one!
